Adult Orthodontics Hampshire   Invisalign Invisible Braces in Stockbridge

As time goes by, your teeth may move causing your teeth to become crooked, or maybe some people have naturally crooked teeth. When you were younger perhaps orthodontic treatment was not an option.

Most people think that moving teeth requires fixed metal braces, however Invisalign Clear Aligner system can move your teeth in the same way as conventional fixed braces but in a very discrete manner.

The clear aligners fit very closely to your teeth and are almost invisible, so only you will know you are wearing them.

Invisalign is a tried and tested method of straightening your teeth without the use of conventional fixed brackets.  You may have crowded teeth, gaps, or need to create a space to have further treatment such as implants or bridges.

With Invisalign you are free to enjoy the benefits of having your teeth straightened, without some of the concerns that having a fixed brace can bring.

Most patients tell us that family, friends and colleagues don’t even notice they are wearing them! So you are free to smile as much during your treatment as you no doubt will after.

    Before and After Treatment

    Invisalign Invisible Braces FAQ’s

    How do Invisalign Braces work?

Using the latest advances in 3D technology, Invisalign uses the information we send them to create a series of custom made removable aligners. These apply a controlled amount of force to your teeth, causing them to move. Each aligner is slightly different, moving your teeth gradually into the desired position.

As Invisalign only works while you are wearing them, we recommend that you wear them for at least 20 to 22 hours each day. We will ask you to wear each aligner for a minimum of 1 week before moving on to the next one.  You may need to wear some aligners for slightly longer than 1 week, if the movement has not been completed.  We will advise you on this at your appointments.

How long will I need Invisalign Braces for?

The length of treatment can vary from patient to patient, and the method of Invisalign they choose.  Some cases can be as short at 7 weeks, while others can take up to 24 month.

We will be able to give you an idea on the length of your bespoke treatment plan when you attend for a consultation.  Of course if you have an event, such as a wedding, that you are aiming for, please let the team know and we will do everything we can to ensure you have achieved your desired results before the big day!

How often will I need to visit the dentist?

We will see you for regular appointment during your treatment to ensure all is progressing as planned and that you are not experiencing any problems.  Should you have any questions between visits, please contact the practice and a member of the team will be happy to help you.

It is very important that you continue to attend your regular dental check-up and hygiene appointments while you are having orthodontic treatment, as some patients may be more susceptible to caries and gum problems while they are wearing braces.

Will I be able to eat with the Invisalign Brace in?

This style of brace is not designed to be worn while you eat, so you also get the benefit of taking them out to continue enjoying the food you love, without having to check for food caught in your brace.

What happens after treatment has finished?

Once you have come to the end of your Invisalign treatment we will make sure you teeth do not return to their original position by making you a retainer.  You will be fitted with fixed permanent wires at the back of your front teeth, as well removable retainers – to wear at night time.

These methods of retention should be worn indefinitely to ensure there is no further movement of your teeth.

    Is Invisalign right for me?

Alongside the advantages of comfort and aesthetics, there are clinical benefits of Invisalign including:

    • Reduced irritation to your gums and lips.
    • Predictable treatment as Invisalign is planned in advance
    • We can get a more accurate prediction on when your treatment will be finished.
    • Removable aligners mean you can eat, drink, brush, and floss with ease.
    • Improved periodontal health through better dental hygiene during treatment.
    • Greater treatment visibility and easier planning with treatment software.
    • Custom manufacture means a tailored match to your teeth.
    • No metal or latex allergies due to brackets or wires.
    • Nearly invisible, so you can smile as much during treatment as you can afterwards.

    Meet the Dentist

    Richard Budworth BDS

After qualifying as a dentist, Richard joined the Armed Forces and spent the first seven years of his career there. A strong emphasis on excellence in dentistry was borne within the army, and after an exciting time travelling to Brunei, Sierra Leone, Kosovo to name a few places, he decided it was time to create his own centre of excellence.

Richard found the perfect spot and set up River Dental in 2008, taking over sole control in 2012.

He runs a happy ship, where patients come because they know they will get that certain level of service. His ethos is one of perfection, taking the time to get it right, no compromise dentistry and he enjoys caring for patients who appreciate this difference.

Richard has personally chosen all his team and has either worked with them before or already knows them. It is important to him that his team all share his vision and his ethos.
